BiteSync vs Samsung Food: planning to your macros vs a recipe organiser

· Reviewed by James, Dietitian

Samsung Food and BiteSync both plan your meals and turn the plan into a shopping list. The difference is what the plan is built around. Samsung Food is built around recipes: save them from the web and plan them by day or week. BiteSync is built around your goal: every day of the week is sized to your calorie and protein targets before you shop, and the targets are free. If you're working towards a nutrition goal, BiteSync is the better choice.

BiteSync is our app. Everything about Samsung Food below comes from its own website, checked on 11 October 2026.

Why BiteSync is the better choice

  • Personal targets for free. BiteSync works out your calorie and protein targets from your weight, height, age, sex, activity and goal, with safety limits: never below 1,200 kcal a day for women or 1,500 for men, and no weight-loss target if your BMI is under 18.5. Samsung Food's free plan gives a generic daily calorie target; personal targets need Food+.
  • Plans sized to your numbers. As you plan, each day's totals update. On Pro, the AI fills the week from your recipes in seconds. It aims for every day within 150 kcal of your calorie target, the week's average within 5%, and at least 95% of your protein, and tells you which days fall short.
  • Nutrition from the ingredients. Recipes are calculated ingredient by ingredient, by weight, using official food composition tables. An imported recipe uses the website's own figures when it publishes them.
  • Vitamins and minerals across the week. BiteSync Pro checks 12, such as iron, iodine and vitamin D, across the whole week against reference values split by sex, and steers the next plan towards whatever you're short on. Why the weekly view matters.
  • A shopping list that knows your pantry. One merged list for the week, leaving off what's already in your cupboard.
  • Built by a dietitian, and it works in any browser with nothing to install.

When Samsung Food might suit you better
